Hirsch Vineyards
Chosen as one of the Top 30 vineyards in the world, and set on a ridge overlooking the Pacific Ocean that was once sheep grazing land, Hirsch Vineyards describes the location of its 72 acres of vines as “the birth ground of great Pinot Noir on the extreme Sonoma Coast”. Their wines are estate-grown at a site in the midst of the wilderness, the edge of the sea, and the redwood forest along the San Andreas Fault. High elevations, steep hillsides, intense sunshine and nearly 80 inches of rain each year all combine in an ecological environment the produces wines of extraordinary character.
Hirsch Vineyard was founded by David Hirsch in 1980. His goal was to grow fruit that would result in site-specific wines. In 2002 he decided to build a winery to produce Hirsch Vineyards wine, with its inaugural vintage in 2008. Since 2014, all 72 acres under vine are biodynamically farmed.
Hirsch is noted for its remarkable and highly-rated Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays that evoke the tastes and elements of its unique and stunning location.
Jasmine Hirsch, daughter of Hirsch founder David Hirsch, is the Winemaker and General Manager of Hirsch Vineyards. Having grown up on the Hirsch vineyards property, Jasmine has a lifelong understanding of the vineyard’s land and its ecology, and therefore its potential.
Though Jasmine was born and bred in California, she ventured east to attend college at University of Pennsylvania where she majored in Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, with a concentration in Japanese. Following graduation, Jasmine spent seven years in a business career in Prague, Amsterdam and New York City before returning to the Sonoma Coast in 2008 to join Hirsch Vineyards as Director of Sales and Marketing.
Upon rejoining the family winery business, Jasmine devoted herself to deepening her knowledge about the land, the vines it produced, and the wines. She became the winery’s General Manager in 2015 and was named its winemaker in 2019.
